Sorry WK, Seems Implausible!

Several friends sent me articles about the Wolters Kluwer report released this week entitled “2023 Future Ready Lawyer Survey Report”. I agree with their opening line “Has the legal industry ever faced a period of great transformation than it does today?” They seem to think not and they point to AI as the number one trend. So far we agree.

Then they get into their survey data - 73% of lawyers expect to integrate generative AI into their legal work in the next 12 months. 68% feel prepared for GenAi’s impact. And 73% also understand how it can be applied to their work. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark!

The data on lawyers currently using Generative AI ranges from 5-15% at most. And we’ll get to 73% in a mere 12 months? And 70ish percent of lawyers understand AI and feel prepared for it’s impact??? Even those of us studying this closely don’t really have a clue yet.

Joe Patrice’s has a similar take in his Above the Law article entitled “73 Percent of Lawyers Expect To Be Using Generative AI Next Year… But To Do What Exactly?” /https://abovethelaw.com/2023/11/73-percent-of-lawyers-expect-to-be-using-generative-ai-next-year-but-to-do-what-exactly/
